Uber warns of a price increase of 85pc
Uber has warned that if Australia's parliament passes new gig economy laws establishing minimum pay rates for workers, it may need to increase its rideshare and food delivery prices by up to 85%. '

This could result in a significant decrease in the number of trips for drivers, with potential consequences for regional areas. The company argues that the proposed penalty rates are outdated and unsuitable for platform work.

While Uber supports the idea of minimum pay, it wants to limit the scope of the legislation to avoid significant price hikes and loss of work for gig workers.
