Uber joining hands with BYD to bring 10,000 electric vehicles
Uber has partnered with electric carmaker BYD to deploy over 10K electric cars (BYD Atto 3) in Australia. As part of Uber’s green ride-share plans, these cars will be available to drivers on a lend-to-own scheme.

The good news is this will reduce emissions footprint, and for drivers, this means an opportunity to maximise earnings.

73% of gig workers struggle with cash flow 

Data analytics on the expenses of 5000+ gig workers by MyGigsters showed that over 73% of gig workers struggle with cash flow and constantly need access to credit. Unfortunately, gig workers, only have limited access to fit-for-purpose credit products. This impacts financial stability and safety during gig work.

Are algorithmically controlled gig workers deeply burned out?

In the gig economy, where people take on flexible work, this study looked at how workers feel about algorithms controlling their jobs and how it affects their motivation. The research found that gig workers who think algorithms are in control tend to be more engaged in their work. However, this feeling of being controlled by algorithms can also lead to burnout, which affects work engagement.

Interestingly, having a good experience with the technology moderates the impact of burnout, meaning gig workers can still stay motivated despite feeling burnt out due to algorithmic control.
